This Book is a Nice Thing to Have

This book is an excellent race relations and identity development primer for white people, particularly white people who haven't thought much about racism on an interpersonal or institutional level. It's very basic, helps white people take a self-inventory, and eases the reader through the preliminary steps of race awareness, race identity, and a recognition of the reality of racism in the U.S. and how white people can contribute to ending racism.

Essential Reading for White Folks

Hey, the comments on Janet Helms' challenging and exciting book show how important and powerful her writing is.
Small wonder that small minded frightened people want to degrade her fine work.
This is a thoughtful, constructive book that is written carefully and has made a most significant difference in the counseling field. It is challenging, but it is also accurate.
As a White person, I am thankful that Janet Helms wrote this book and I will continue to use it in my classes.
AND--I will make the negative reviews available to my students so that they are aware of the power and importance of this book and how frightened it makes White folks!!

A training manual for the 'white race' to hate itself and grovel abjectly before our New Masters, the white Diversity Mongers. Insulting, above all, to African-Americans. I would LOVE to see a book for black Americans to examine their OWN violent and unchecked disease of racism but those who have a vested interest in 'keeping black America victims' would not let it happen.
